Abstract

Despite improvements in prosthetic devices and control systems, upper extremity prosthesis rejection continues to be high. There are many issues involved in the rejection to include patient factors, speed of prosthesis delivery and quality of therapy. Quality and consistency of prosthetic training is a vital but variable part of the recovery process. Frequently therapy staff with limited experience in the prosthetic field will be the primary resource for the patient. This presentation will offer a plan of care over 20 sessions to help support clinicians offer best practices to attain the best results for their limb loss patients.
